Materials Needed for Book:

Scissors

Gluestick

Piece of Ribbon (approx. 12in)

Bone Folder

Cutting Mat

Sheet of Paper 8.5×11in

Two cardboard squares (2×2.5ish)

Patterned paper for cover

Step 1:

  • Place the blank sheet vertically

  • Fold in half so the corners line up at the top.

  • Use a bone folder to smooth during each folding step.

  • Next, fold the bottom half up to meet in the middle.

  • Repeat with the top section.

  • Now you have 4 even sections.

Step 2:

  • Turn the paper horizontally

  • Fold in half so the corners line up at the top.

  • Use a bone folder to smooth during each folding step.

  • Next, fold the bottom half up to meet in the middle.

  • Repeat with the top section

  • Now you have 4 even sections.

Fold to make two rectangles

Fold upward to match up corners and make 8 boxes

Fold two more times to create 4 rectangles

Should have 16 boxes (will be pages of book)

Step 3:

  • Place paper vertically

  • Use a pencil to mark where you are going to cut so the book will fold up nicely later on.

  • In the image, you will see a spiral-marked outline to follow.

  • Cut along the lines starting with the outside

Step 4:

  • Take patterned paper out

  • Place your two cardboard cover panels on the paper

  • Create an inch border between the panels and the borders of the patterned paper.

Step 5:

  • Cut down the middle to separate your two cover panels.

  • One at a time, take each corner of the paper and fold it up till it presses into the corner of the cover panel.

  • Use a bone folder to crease each side

  • Crease the side against the panel as well.

Step 6:

  • Fold each side inward onto the cover panel so that you crease the paper the way it will be glued down in the next step.

  • Once you do so, unfold the paper back out to look like the start of step 5.

After each fold has been made, make sure to unfold

Step 7:

  • Now fold the corners back in one by one.

  • Glue those corners down and smooth with a bone folder.

  • Repeat the folding process and glue each section down

  • Use a bone folder to smooth over the sides.

Step 8:

  • Take time to figure out which cover you want to be the front and the back.

  • Take the back cover and center your ribbon in the middle of the cover, with the same amount of ribbon on both sides of the cover.

  • Glue it down

Each section has been glued and smoothed with a bone folder

Step 9:

  • Now, take the larger piece of paper that we cut.

  • Fold it up by flipping the pages back and forth till you get to the middle.

  • Take the top flap of paper and glue it to the cover of your book.

  • Next, find the last flap and glue it to the back cover.

Step 10:

  • Close the book up

  • Take both sides of the ribbon and tie them to create a bow on top of the book.

  • Now your crazy book is complete! Fill it up with whatever you want.

  • Great job!
